BC's Golden, Kicking Horse Country Contest rules

This contest is open to Canadian physicians only. The deadline to submit a ballot is September 16, 2013. Only one ballot will be accepted per physician. The winner’s name will be randomly drawn and announced in the October, 2013 issue of Doctor’s Review.

The winner will receive a vacation for four people to Golden BC during the summer of 2014. The prize must be redeemed between May 17 and August 31, 2014. The prize is subject to availability and black-out dates and is not transferable. Doctor’s Review and Tourism Golden assumes no responsibility for delays and cancellations during the trip.

The prize is for four people travelling together. It includes: accommodation for up to four for three nights at Mount 7 Lodges in Golden, BC, a white-water rafting trip for four with Glacier Raft Company (the type of trip is subject to availability and suitability to ages and weight), a Parks Canada Discovery Pass and the prize winner’s selection of either:
a) a tandem skydiving experience for four with Skydive Extreme Yeti (the “Hard-Adventure Option”)
b) or a Learn to Rock Climb course for four at the Dogtooth Climbing Gym plus a guided float tour of the Columbia Wetlands for four with Columbia Wetlands Adventures (the “Soft-Adventure Option”).

The prize is subject to the operation and product availability of each of the individual sponsors (Mount 7 Lodges, Glacier Raft Company, Skydive Extreme Yeti, Dogtooth Climbing Gym and Columbia Wetlands Adventures), and the winner must contact the individual prize sponsors with intended travel/prize redemption dates at least two weeks in advance.

Age and weight restrictions may apply to activities and all activities require participants to sign an affidavit of eligibility and a liability and publicity release. No refund or alternative activity will be offered if children or adults do not meet the minimum age, weight or health requirements as stipulated by Glacier Raft Company, Skydive Extreme Yeti, Dogtooth Climbing Gym and Columbia Wetlands Adventures or are unable to participate in any activity. All four participants must choose the same adventure option.

The prize does not include transportation to and from Mount 7 Lodges in Golden BC.

Any other costs not listed on the ballot and/or in the contest rules are the responsibility of the winner, including reporting and paying any application income tax associated with the prize.

The approximate retail value of the prize is $2800 including the hard adventure option or $2100 including the soft adventure option. The actual value may vary based on date of travel, activity options selected and the ages of any children participating.

No cash value, refund or alternative will be offered as compensation for the difference in value between the prize plus the hard-adventure option and the prize plus the soft-adventure option, nor will any cash value, refund or alternative be offered if the type of activity selected by the winner is of a lesser value than that used to calculate the value of the prize offered.

No refund or compensation will be made in the event of the cancellation or delay of any activity. The sponsor will not replace any lost or stolen vouchers.

Except where prohibited, entrant agrees that disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of, or connected with, the prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court located in the Province of British Columbia. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these contest rules, entrant's rights and obligations, or the rights and obligations of Doctor’s Review and Tourism Golden in connection with the prize, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the Province of British Columbia, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of BC or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than BC.
