A polar bear capital summer
Most folks see Churchill, Manitoba by booking a tour package after the water freezes. But why not see it in summer from a boat instead of a tundra buggy? Besides, you can see the beautiful belugas. The Lazy Bear Lodge isn’t the cheapest place to sleep, but it may be the prettiest. Most of the wood used to build the log inn was forest-fire-killed trees from the boreal forest. The floors were taken from an old Canadian National Pacific outpost. A double room (two double beds) is $200 per night in summer. If you want a tour, you can book that as well. The restaurant features locally caught game and fish. (866) 687-2327; lazybearlodge.com.
