Have pet, will travel

More people are travelling with their pets these days, thanks in part to the number of pet-friendly hotels that have popped up in recent years. But what exactly does “pet friendly” mean? Policies differ from hotel to hotel so make sure you do your research before booking. And remember to reserve as far in advance as possible. Some of the questions you should be asking:

  • Is there a fee? If so, is it charged per night or is it a flat price?
  • Are there type and size restrictions for pets?
  • Is there a maximum number of pets allowed at any one time?
  • Are there any resident pets? What are they and how many?
  • Ask the hotel to specify what types of rooms are available to guests with pets.
  • Are there any rules or restrictions?
  • Are any services provided and are pets allowed on the property’s grounds?
