The death of Robin Williams on August 11 was all the proof needed of the tragic consequences of depression. He was far from the first celebrity to suffer from the disease. Dozens of the best known in society have had to deal this ubiquitous spirit killer. With good therapy, begun early, many have recovered and gone on to fulfilling lives. The list of those it defeated is longer than one would hope.
