American Heart Association Healthy Family Meals

American and Canuck kids are suffering from obesity, type 2 diabetes and heart disease; all the more reason diets should be heart healthy from infancy on. Always a challenge, we know, especially with busy schedules, end-of-the-day meltdowns and fussy eaters. It’s nonetheless vital because eating habits are set in youth. But we don’t have to tell you that, doctor.

What we do want to tell you about is American Heart Association Healthy Family Meals (Clarkson Potter, 2009). Crammed with 150 family focussed recipes — some which can be made in 30 minutes or less — the cookbook, complete with a breakdown of the nutrients each recipe provides, is an easy first step to eating with your heart in mind. Our favourites (including dessert!) follow.
