The Iraqi Cookbook

“Anything that you feel is nice to cook will be nice to eat.” Lamees Ibrahim’s father once said. Decades later, the Baghdad-born writer’s first cookbook, The Iraqi Cookbook, is full of recipes that are exactly that: nice to eat. Recently published by Interlink Books, the book began as a small collection of recipes for her daughters and son. But, when she realized that Western-born Arabs often find it difficult to follow Iraqi cookbooks written in Arabic, she went on to compile a book of over 200 recipes with them in mind. We’re certainly glad she did. The Iraqi Cookbook is “the first of its kind to be published in North America.” Here, we’ve published our favourites.
