Jerusalem: A Cookbook

Both Yotam Ottolenghi and Sami Tamimi were born in Jerusalem. Ottolenghi in the Jewish west; Tamimi in the Muslim east. Both were born the same year too. When they met 30 years later in London, the men discovered that they also share a love of food; a love that, today, translates into five UK restos and a couple of cookbooks, the latest called Jerusalem, published by Appetite of Random House Canada. It’s full of 120 recipes inspired by their home, but it’s got more than you think. There’s a matzo meal, yes, but there’s more inspired by Jerusalem’s melting pot of cultures: from Arabs and Armenians to Christians, Jews and Muslims. You’ll fall in love with the result. We did and think it’s a delicious start to 2013.
