One Dish, Two Ways

Jane Kennedy cooks for seven people every single night — and she used to do it in two shifts. Like most kids, her five little ones don’t like “green bits,” “orange bits,” “hot bits,” and “weird bits,” and ground black pepper is too “hot” for them. To keep the “meal-peace,” she cooked one dish for them at 5:30pm and another for the adults to eat later. Then she realized that she needed to safeguard her sanity. Enter One Dish, Two Ways.

Published by Hardie Grant Books, her latest cookbook contains kid-friendly recipes for dinner that can easily be dressed up with spices and herbs for adults. You might have to use two bowls or two baking dishes, but all of the base meals are fast and easy and, most importantly, don’t require overtime. Our favourites follow.
