Sunday Soup

Days are dull and nights are nippy, but there are also aspects of autumn that all of us at Doctor’s Review “fall” for every year: cozying up in an old sweater, drinking in the foliage, even raking (for the first time, anyway). Another autumn ingredient we love is soup, especially if it’s one from Betty Rosbottom’s Sunday Soup, published by Chronicle Books.

The cookbook’s 60 recipes — some are all-American, others are Asian, European or Mexican inspired — are organized by season. Each features an approximate assembly/cooking time and a note on whether or not the soup can be completely or partially prepared ahead of time. There are even bread and side suggestions. Just the kind of helpful info a person needs any day of the week.
