Be a Vatican VIP

Over five million people visit the Vatican Museums annually, but few, if any, have ever toured like this. Dark Rome Tours and Walks was recently named one of the museums’ three official (privately-owned) partners — Carrani Tours and Trafalgar Tours are the other two — a first in Vatican history. The partnership means that Dark Rome can now offer no-wait access via a private entrance, early admission, after-hours tours and entry into rooms closed to the public. There are three tours to choose from. Their 10-person, 3-hour VIP Tour (US$325) includes a 30-minute after-hours guided tour of the Sistine Chapel and entry into the Cappella Niccolina, a chapel within the Vatican with frescoes that pre-date Michelangelo’s. The 20-person, four-hour Extended Vatican Tour (US$103) includes a stop at the Vatican Painting Gallery, which houses Renaissance masterpieces including the only confirmed Da Vinci work remaining in Rome. The Early-Access Sistine Chapel ticket (US$66) gets you inside 15 minutes before other tour groups and 1 hour and 15 minutes before the public; full-day Vatican Museum tickets are included. darkrome.com.
