Beaches in the buff

It's not always a pretty sight, but to some Canadians sprawling out on the sand and grass in the nude is as close to nirvana as it gets. Here are five beaches that let you reach that perfect peace legally.

Crystal Crescent Beach, near Halifax
Naturists congregate at the beach’s Mackerel Cove.
Oka Park Beach, near Montreal
Nudity is tolerated at the east end of the beach. Just look for the… well, you know what.
Hanlan’s Point Beach, Toronto Islands
So near, yet so far… why not let it all hang out with the CN Tower as a backdrop? The water is often warm enough for swimming.
Patricia Beach, Lake Winnipeg
While nudity once was tolerated at nearby Beaconia Beach, it is now discouraged. Stick to Patricia Beach.
Wreck Beach, Vancouver
The granddaddy of legal clothing optional beaches and probably the most famous in all North America. Expect huge crowds.
