How to cash in when the price drops

Your flight is booked and weeks later, the price drops. What can you do besides curse and wish you waited longer? If you booked with Oakville, Ontario-based Flight Network, you can cash in with the online travel agency’s new Price Drop Protection program, which will credit you the difference in Price Drop Protection Dollars to be used for future airfare or travel insurance. All of their economy-class flights are covered, but the credit you can earn by committing to a lower fare is capped at $100 on international flights; there’s no cap on domestic flights.

The airline, flight numbers, flight times and departure and destination cities must be identical to the flight you already purchased and you can only commit to a lower fare once. There’s no fee to do so and everything — booking your flight, tracking price changes, accessing and using your credits — can be done on its website. (877) 496-4815; flightnetwork.com.
