China comes to Vegas
Two of China’s national treasures are now in Vegas: kung fu and pandas. PANDA! made its world premiere at The Palazzo Theatre on December 16 and we’d assume that the first-ever Chinese-produced show to take up a residency in the city has got to have the Cirque du Soleil people just slightly perturbed. Produced by a team whose credits include the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics, the show’s cast includes performers from the China National Acrobatic Troupe and the Shaolin Monastery Kung Fu Monks Troupe. It follows a panda named Long Long as he tries to rescue his Peacock Princess from the Demon Vulture who’s kidnapped her. As you might expect, Long Long gets help from the Immortal Old Kung Fu Man, who prepares him for his dangerous mission. Tuesdays through Sundays at 7:30pm. For tickets ($48 to $128) and more, call (702) 414-9000 or visit venetian.com/panda.
