A Colombian beauty
The Casa San Agustín (hotelcasasanagustin.com) in Cartagena, Colombia is, according to travel website TripAdvisor, the best hotel in the world to open within the last year. It features a trio of colonial-era whitewashed buildings, 30 rooms with centuries-old wood-beamed ceilings, and original frescoes in the library. The fact that it’s within a UNESCO World Heritage Site — the city’s walled Old Town of cobblestone streets and balconies overflowing with flowers — makes it ridiculously lovely too. Three North American properties made the world’s 10 best new hotels list: the 21c Museum Hotel in Bentonville, Arkansas, the Refinery Hotel in NYC and Zero George Street in Charleston, South Carolina.
