Dutch art delights in Vancouver

“Choose only one master — nature,” the celebrated Dutch artist Rembrandt van Rijn once said. Thankfully, at the Vancouver Art Gallery this summer, no such difficult choice is necessary: you can choose to see all the masters of Dutch painting — Rembrandt, Vermeer, Van Ruisdael and more — in the new exhibition, Vermeer, Rembrandt and the Golden Age of Dutch Art: Masterpieces from The Rijksmuseum, alongside textiles, furniture and other creations of 17th-century Holland. The exhibition is open now until September 13. Buy your tickets online by the end of May and you’ll get $5 off the $20.50 summer admission rates. (604) 662-4719; www.vanartgallery.bc.ca.
