As easy as “open sesame”

All zeroes. That’s apparently the default password for room safes at a Markham, Ontario hotel, a bothersome tidbit that was recently revealed when a guest forgot his password and asked the hotel staff for help. He posted the discovery on YouTube and the video’s gone viral probably because the standard-looking safe resembles one we’ve all used to secure our own valuables. The question then is, of course, do all hotel safes have a default password entrusted to staff and is it all zeroes? To watch the video, search “don't trust your hotel room safe” on YouTube.
