A gladiator’s dressing room

Rome’s Colosseum is growing. At least, the parts that are public are. Beginning this month, its highest tier and its underground will be open to visitors. So now, in addition to taking in the magnificent view that stretches from the Arch of Constantine, to the Forum, to Palatine Hill, you can also check out the chambers and passageways (in a group of 10 to 12 with a guide) that housed the lions and tigers as well as the levers and pulleys used to bring the animals up to the stage. The chambers are also where the gladiators would prep for the bloody show.
