H1N1 declines just in time for Mexican fiestas

Mexico had a rough go of it in 2009, tourism-wise. But 2010 is shaping up better: swine flu has finally taken a backseat to Monteczuma’s Revenge as the main travel-health concern. That’s not all 2010 means for Mexico, however.

This year marks not only the 200th anniversary of Father Miguel Hidalgo’s independence rally cry of "Mexicanos, viva México!" in September, but also, a month later, the 100th anniversary of the start of the Revolución Mexicana that produced national heroes like bean farmer-turned-president Álvaro Obregón and his rival, Pancho Villa. Celebration events include the establishment of two interesting cross-country routes along historical destinations.
