HK Airlines is kung fu fighting

Disorderly passengers aboard Hong Kong Airlines flights may very well get some sort of “hi-ya!” from the cabin crew. They’re being trained in the ancient Chinese martial art of Wing Chun, a close-range combat ideal for confined spaces. A branch of Kung Fu, it’s mandatory training for flight attendants, but other staff can sign up too.

Legend has it that Wing Chun was invented by a woman, Yim Wing Chun, but don’t underestimate its power; Bruce Lee initially trained in Wing Chun before creating his own Jeet Kune Do. The airline recently released a new TV commercial to promote its new branding campaign “Fresh, very Hong Kong” with Wing Chun martial artists Rose Chan and Dennis To as its promo ambassadors.
