Is Cuba about to get crowded?

For decades Canadians have enjoyed an exalted status in Cuba, thanks to the absence of American tourists on the communist island. The churro lines are short, the dance floors luxuriously wide. But there are signs that all that may change. Last month, President Barack Obama ended restrictions on travel and money transfers to Cuba by Americans with family there and, although that is far from normalized relations, his decision (as well as a new push in Congress for an end to the travel restrictions for all Americans) is being seen by some as a hint of things to come. Depending on the outcome of the US government’s deliberations, Canadians may not have long left as Cuba’s guests of honour. You may want to get in a last trip before the island is overrun by Americans.
