Let the gøød times røll
Back in 2012 these same Doctor’s Review pages told you that Denmark was the happiest country on earth, according to the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network’s first-ever World Happiness Report. Well, the same folks who put it together crunched all the numbers again… and discovered Danes are still pretty happy, once again more so than anybody on the planet. We’re not surprised; it’s difficult to fathom how living in a land of Lego, breakfast pastries and absurdly-sized dogs wouldn’t be a surefire recipe for contentment. As with the previous study, wealthy European countries dominated the top 10. Canada dropped from fifth to sixth. The calculations were based upon criteria such as GDP, perceived corruption and personal freedom. It does differ somewhat from the rival ecologically-based Happy Planet Index, which puts the Danes at a more melancholy 110th, just behind Rwanda and Afghanistan. unsdsn.org/resources/publications/world-happiness-report-2013.
