A longship runs through it
Viking Cruises orders 12 additional longships for 2015
According to a November 2013 article on CruiseCritic, “river cruising is still the fastest-growing sector in the cruise industry.” The entrepreneurial minds behind Viking Cruises would probably agree. The company christened 16 longships in 24 hours this past March, which, according to a Guinness World Records adjudicator, was “the most ships [ever] inaugurated in one day by one company.” Viking also christened two other river vessels that month. Fast forward to April and May for more expansion; Viking has ordered 12 additional longships for 2015 and two unique river vessels designed specifically for their Elegant Elbe itinerary. All of Viking’s river vessels are designed for a few hundred guests at most and are purpose-built for the waters they sail. They feature all-outside staterooms, many if which include full verandas or French balconies. Its longships are known for their indoor/outdoor Aquavit Terraces with retractable floor-to-ceiling glass doors. tel: (800) 207-7286; vikingcruisescanada.com.
