Monkey business in Tokyo

Kayabukiya, a sake house just north of Tokyo, has gained some notoriety lately because of its unusual wait staff — two macaques named Yat-chan and Fuku-chan. The owner had the monkeys as pets for several years, but noticed after a while that the pair was mimicking him. The monkeys are certified by local authorities to work a maximum of two hours a day, which is in keeping with Japan’s animal rights regulations. The younger Fuku-chan hands out hot towels to customers, while 12-year-old Yat-chan can take drink orders. Their tips? Edamame, of course.
