More security measures

The Nigerian man who attempted to have a Northwest Airlines flight explode over Detroit in December, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, is destined to be known forever as the Underpants Bomber, the man who lit his crotch on fire. But that’s cold comfort to travellers who have to deal with all the new security measures.

In addition to the new limit of just one carry-on bag and one small personal item, x-ray body scanners are being installed in many American and Canadian airports. Some US airports are also now randomly swabbing passengers’ hands. You might want to make your one personal item a nice long book.
