Now open in Vegas

The Octavius Tower at Caesers Palace is finally taking reservations for stays beginning January 2, 2012. The opening of the Vegas resort’s sixth tower was delayed for three years because of the tanking US economy. Now, “with very high hotel occupancy over the last six months” and the return of Celine Dion to its Colosseum (her shows were sold out for five consecutive years starting in 2003), the new, 668-room luxury tower marks the completion of the resort’s US$860 million expansion. Besides guest rooms starting at 550 square feet (51 square metres), 60 suites and six villas, the build-out included the Garden of the Gods pool-and-garden expansion and 263,000 square feet (24,433 square meters) of meeting space. Beginning in December 2012, Shania Twain will start a two-year residency at the Colosseum. Deluxe rooms range from US$219 to US$719 a night, according to the tower’s online rate calender. caesarspalace.com.
