Moscow's newest metro station
Moscow recently opened its 200th metro station and with more expansion in the works, the city’s system is set to be the world’s fourth largest by 2020. The new station, Salaryevo, opened on the metro’s oldest line, the red line, and is now the southernmost stop. The Salaryevo station is decorated in the style of constructivism: the walls, ceiling, pillars and floor are divided into "squares" of different colours. Moscow’s metro stations get a lot of attention for their beautiful mosaics and ornamentation, but the 80-year-old system is also efficient: about nine million people use it every day.
