The design equivalent of “too much info”

Conferencing with a co-worker? Holidaying with the in-laws? If you’ve decided to go half and half on a hotel room, ask about the bathroom before you book. Why? Because bathrooms with a view are the latest fad — and the view is you! From bathrooms with glass walls (like the one pictured at the Hôtel Le Germain in Toronto) to bathtubs in the middle of a room like a sculpture (like at the Hôtel Particulier Montmartre in Paris), boutique hotels, and even more mainstream ones (like the Marriott’s Renaissance Beijing Capital Hotel), are all over the Peeping-Tom trend.

But it’s about more then just voyeurism, designers and hoteliers insist; it’s about maximizing light and space, an added air of luxury (but, of course) and multitasking i.e.: bathing while catching up on your companion’s day, or while getting the dish on Hollywood’s happenings on TV — ’cause who really wants to indulge in the peace and privacy of just soaking anyway?
