The world’s best wines come to Moncton

It’s not exactly Tuscany or Provence or the Napa Valley, but Moncton’s annual World Wine and Food Expo is nothing to scoff at. An affordable option for Canadian oenophiles, this year’s 18th edition of the festival runs from November 1 to 8 and offers visitors a chance to sample from among more than 350 different wines, including selections from as far afield as Romania (and not just one but two vintners from that country) and as odd as Dan Akroyd’s Toronto-based company (“We can’t pronounce sommelier either”). The main-event Grand Tastings on November 7 and 8 cost $50 per person per day; there are also special multi-course meals, as well as 10 expert-led wine seminars taking place throughout the week for prices from $17 to $34.
