When in Italy, walk

There are a lot of conferences in Italy this year: Villasimius is hosting the 19th Annual Meeting of the International Behavioral Neuroscience Society (June 8-13); Milan the 21st International Congress on Thrombosis (July 6-9); and Naples, Rome and Sorrento have got a fall lineup.

To get to the conferences from your hotel, you’ll want to keep it simple and walk (read: book a hotel that’s nearby). After all, the biggest complaint from travellers vacationing in Italy involves driving and parking tickets — often delivered to doorsteps months after their trip. The biggest problem? Speeding by an Autovelox camera and driving in a "limited traffic zone" (meant to manage pollution and traffic in historic centres) without an authorized plate.
