A whole new food network

Canada isn’t home to a whole lot of Whole Foods — BC is home to four of the certified organic grocery stores and Ontario is too — but that can’t stop Canadians in other provinces from booking one of their new Whole Journeys. Beginning in April (and currently taking bookings), the grocery chain will offer five- to 14-day travel itineraries ranging from $3000 to $4500 per person (not including air) with a focus on food. Their inaugural Turkish Delights tour (US$4395 per person) will take 16 travellers to the Urla Farmer’s Market in Izmir then on to Cappadocia, the capital of manti dumplings, tandouri lamb and borek pastries, and finally the Aegean Coast for fine wine. Their second (April) trip is an epicurean tour of Tuscany by bike (US$4295); right now the year wraps (in September) with an ancient tea tour through China (US$4695). Most trips accommodate a max of 16 people. Air isn’t included, but guides, visits, hotels and most meals are. (888) 833-6177; wholejourneys.com.
