VANCOUVER In business since 1997, the
Pacific Spirit is just the guesthouse for Fido, Fluffy and you. In addition to its grassy yard, the guesthouse, near UBC, is a short walk to dog-friendly parks (for a list, go to
http://vancouver.ca/parks/info/dogparks), including neighbouring Pacific Spirit Park, which boasts over 750 hectares of land and 70 kilometres of mostly off-leash trails. There’s a fireplace in the guesthouse’s living room, and both its cedar and garden rooms include a bar fridge, coffeemaker, telephone, TV with DVD player, robes, heated mattress pads and Wi-Fi. Both also have bathrooms. Cats and dogs are welcome, but only two VIPs (very important pets) are allowed per room. High-season rates between April and October start at $125, including breakfast; $20 extra a night for pets, which covers gourmet treats and the use of bowls, a leash, paw-cleaning cloth, pet bed, blanket and, for cats, a litter box. A two-night minimum is generally required. (866) 768-6837.
