Chia and buckwheat cereal

Chia is the new miracle seed. It’s gained a lot of popularity in health-food circles and we think it’s here to stay.

Chia is rich in omega-3 fatty acids. It’s a very stable seed, so it doesn’t go rancid quickly. Unlike flax seeds, they don’t need to be ground to make their nutrients available. This is an easy, simple breakfast. Just add chopped fruit, spices or nuts.

1 tbsp. (15 ml) chia seeds
1 tbsp. (15 ml) buckwheat
1 tbsp. (15 ml) pumpkin seeds
½ tbsp. (7.5 ml) hemp seeds
pinch of sea salt
½ c. (125 ml) nut milk of choice

Stir all the ingredients together. Let soak for 20 to 30 minutes. Serve with fresh fruit and additional nut milk as a cereal. Serves 1.
