The cyclist in your life will appreciate the ALIEN III CB DX from Topeak — basically it’s a compact 260-gram tool kit, ideal in your backpack side pocket (it’s a tad heavy in a jacket pocket). It comes with Allen wrenches, screwdrivers, a chain tool, 8, 9 and 10mm box wrenches, a tire lever, a knife and even a place to store two spare chain pins. Here’s to never being stuck again. US$61. for dealers. [AS]

Cosy camping?
Apparently it’s possible. The KLYMIT INERTIA X-FRAME SLEEPING PAD is allegedly the world's lightest, most compact inflatable bed. It weighs 9.1 ounces and rolls down to the size of a beer can when deflated. Comfort? The reviews we read seem somewhat impressed. While it certainly promotes nice airflow — and in snow you can inflate it with a canister of insulating argon – we can’t help but wonder: how comfortable would it be if you rolled over in your sleep? US$100. [AS]

Pace maker
Here's a cool stocking stuffer for the runner in your life: PACETAT TEMPORARY TATTOOS. These tats help runners stick to their pace even when they don't have a support group. Durable and easy to read, they give pacing information for every other kilometre for full marathon distance (including the half-way point), and they'er available in 20 different marathon finish times ranging from 2:55 up to 5:30 hours. They can also be used for shorter race distances by chopping them off at the desired kilometre mark. (Also available in miles.) US$3; [SL]
