The countryside surrounding Calgary is rife with small producers who pour their hearts into growing crops that are sustainable and healthy. Each summer, chef and food writer Dee Hobsbawn-Smith packs 40 city dwellers into a yellow school bus for her annual Foodie Tootle, driving them out to her favourite growers and producers of hormone-free cattle and organic fruits, vegetables and herbs.
